About Us

Alexis Wolson is an experienced higher education and nonprofit leader with more than 20 years of experience and a deep belief in the power of words to open doors. As a former Vice Dean of Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania and Assistant Dean at the University of Miami, Alexis brings a rare combination of admissions expertise, strategic communication skills, and storytelling insight to her work, helping high school students use their voices to stand out in a competitive admissions landscape.

At College Key, Alexis leads a team of expert advisors who share her commitment to student-centered guidance and ethical, empowering support. Together, the team brings decades of experience across selective admissions, writing instruction, and educational leadership. Whether one-on-one or as a team, they help students create compelling applications grounded in authenticity, purpose, and personal growth.

Alexis knows that the best college essays don’t just inform, they connect. Through careful coaching and thoughtful feedback, she helps students uncover the most honest, compelling version of their story and express it clearly and with confidence. Whether guiding students through personal statements, activity lists, or short answers, the College Key team helps students use language as a tool for influence, clarity, and self-expression.

Throughout her career, Alexis has worked closely with a wide range of institutions and students, giving her a nuanced understanding of how colleges read applications and what makes a student stand out. Her leadership at Penn and the University of Miami shaped her broad perspective on selective admissions, institutional values, and how students can find the right-fit school for their goals.

I founded College Key because I saw a real need: students were working hard, challenging themselves in the classroom, showing up in their communities, and pushing to do their best, yet still struggling to stand out in an increasingly competitive admissions landscape. Numbers alone don’t tell the whole story, and a college application should reflect the person behind the achievements.

I knew I could help students shine by bringing their personalities, passions, and goals to the forefront. My goal is to help every student find their voice and present their most authentic, confident, and compelling self. So their application feels not just complete, but truly theirs.
